About
Synopsis
The website that resides at http://www.jonstone.org.uk/.
Description
This website contains mostly photographs and documents relating to Bath Area Rag. It is also somewhere where I get to play with modern Internet technology without overly caring whether it works in MSIE.
This website is hosted as a virtual host on an Apache webserver running on the FreeBSD operating system. The server is colocated with Bogons. All the webpages and graphics are static files though many are automatically generated. All of the webpages are available as XHTML and HTML with content negotiation being used to serve the correct version. GZip encoded version of most pages are also offered. Content negotiation is bodged to work around errors in MSIE.
Compatability
This website is tested to be usable on at least the following:
- Internet Explorer 6/Windows
- Firefox 2.0/Windows and FreeBSD
- Lynx 2.8.5

Standards
This website tries to conform to one or more of the following:
History
This site dates back to 2001 when it was hosted on BUCS's server. Since graduation the site has been hosted on my own server on ADSL. In 2005 the site was moved to a colocated server in London Docklands.
The backend of the site has varied over the years. It started out as a Python generated approximation of a dynamic PHP site using a PostgreSQL database. Now it is moving towards using XML in several of its many forms.
Authors
This is a product of Jon Stone.
Bugs
Pre- and post-2004 photograph galleries are generated in two completely different ways.
The website is updated sporadically and some parts are in need of updates.
